Seven

Seven (세븐, Sebeun), written as 07, was one of the variants that was experimented on by the MM Corporation. It was involved in the attack of the Yeongchan High retreat. Later, it was sent to kill remaining survivors in the forest and tried to kill Gyuhwan and Zero. Finally, it was found by the MM-C and shot on the forehead with the venom killing him instantly.

Background[]

Variant experiments-2 — 04 and 07 being contained.

In its past, 07 worked a typical nine to five office job. It is implied it hunted humans as a hobby on the side.

Like its current partners, 07 was experimented on by the MM Corporation in Area C. One day, alongside 04, it was forced to listen to the screams of another variant, Samshik, being experimented on. Before being designated to move to Area A, 07 and its partners escaped the containment and took over MM-C.

Appearance[]

It's true appearance is implied to be a purple blob of flesh that is small enough to fit in a container, as seen how 04 looked in its final moments.

In its disguise, 07 appears a skinny man with buggy eyes and thick eyebrows. It often wears the employee uniform, with a sleeve missing after its arm was shot by Gyuhwan.

Personality[]

Like the other Variants, 07 enjoys killing humans. It enjoys mocking and toying around with its pray. It is also shown to be logical and calm and also has a somewhat bleak sense of humor. Despite it's cruelty, 07 shows care for its comrades, especially towards 04. After 04 is hurt by Zero and Gyuhwan, it becomes determined to take them down at all costs, but it still holds respect for the boy when he manages to stand up to it.

Plot[]

During the talent show, it is present with the other Variants. When 05 announces and begins her genocide, it and its partners block off the students' escape. After 03 kills a rich student, 07 hears a student cry that he's poor and stupid so he shouldn't kill him. 07 quickly kills the kid anyway.

During the attack, they are interrupted when Gyuhwan enters and kills a variant with a shotgun. After this, 07 and 04 decide to attack the boy. 07 quickly jumps up and spreads its tentacles, killing multiple students in the process. 07 then attacks, but ends up getting its arm shot off. 04 saves it by cutting its arm off before the "venom" spreads. After realizing Gyuhwan is a bigger threat then expected, its partners retreat with itself.

Variants sense Zero — 01, 04, and 07 in their shelter.

01, 04 and 07 hide in an abandoned shack. 01 demands 04 to call 05. Unfortunately, it can not get a signal due to an outside interference.

They later run into 03, who lays dying. 01 eats its brain and informs them of Zero. After an unexpected smoke beacon lights up, 01 sends 04 to deal with it. He then sends 07 to kill the remaining survivors in the forest, but asks it to spare Seongbin Yu. During its mission, it kills multiple survivors. It is baffled, however, when 04 is taking too long with its mission wondering for him, having no choice to go for him.

07 runs into a dying 04. 07 asks what happened to it, so 04 replies that it met a god. 07 asks if he's the one who did this to him, but 04 informs him it was Gyuhwan. It says it finished off Gyuhwan (not realizing he was healed by Zero). 04 adds that when it made contact with the god, it told him "they don't have anything," and wonders what he meant. 07 asks where the god went. 04 asks it to see for itself, so 07 hesitantly absorbs its memories.

07-mocking — 07 mocks Gyuhwan for Zero's "death".

07 searches for Zero and finds him in the cave with Gyuhwan. It notices Gyuhwan and asks how he survived 04's stab attack. It then threatens to bury Gyuhwan alive and tries to collapse the gave. Gyuhwan tries to shoot it, but 07 blocks it with a rock. With the cave collapsing, Gyuhwan rushes out, holding Zero's hand, but trips and lets go of Zero who gets trapped under rocks. 07 then claps, mocking Gyuhwan that Zero could've saved himself and he just ruined it. It then asks Gyuhwan to move out of the way so it can "speak" to Zero. Gyuhwan objects and aims at 07, so it starts speeding in circles around Gyuhwan. Once it nears him, it knocks the shotgun out of Gyuhwan's hold and readies to kill Gyuhwan by eating his brain. Just then, Shinyeong interjects and shoots 07's arm with venom, the same arm as before. It then flees before presumably cutting off its arm.

Minutes later, he put out the fire in order to avoid calling the attention of the outsiders (military service, MM-C, etc.), sat down in order to let his wounds heals while smoking a cigarrette and watching a photo of he and his friends (One, Three, Samshik, Four and Five); however, the MM-C already located them (the variants, Zero and the survivors), and one of their soldiers targetted him on the head; but before getting shot on the head, he was praying that One could see that the MM-C soldiers arrived. He finally died for getting a headshot.

Abilities[]

Evasiveness - 07's most unique skill. It is easily able to dodge many bullets from Gyuhwan.
- Encircling Attack - 07 will often encircle its opponent at a very high speed, slowly nearing them, until finally striking.
Super Human Endurance - Like its partners, it has endurance, strength, and speed beyond human capacity. 07 also has the agility to jump several meters high.
Tentacles - Like its partners, it shows the ability to control tentacles. 07 has great control over its tentacles, as it can send them in multiple places at once.
Regeneration - Like its partners, it shows the ability to regenerate any lost body part. If being hit by a Venom bullet, it takes at least an hour to heal if its in the arm.

Relationships[]

04[]

04 and 07 were very close comrades. While being experimented on by the MM Corporation, the two bonded over their previous lives and thoughts on humanity. During the gym massacre, 04 saves it from Gyuhwan's Shotgun by cutting its arm off. 07 seems to show genuine concern for 04 when unable to complete its mission. In its final moments, 04 asks 07 to eat it's memories and avenge it, which it hesitantly does.

01[]

07 was a loyal companion to 01, like 04. The three (including 04) stuck together after the variant attack. In an abandoned shack, 01 asked how 07's arm was. Later, when students set off a fire, 01 sent 07 to kill survivors in the woods, which it obeyed with a smile. 07 spends its last moments trying to warn 01 of the MM Corporation, showing its loyalty to him.

Unnamed cohort[]

They are not seen interacting much, but it seems like they were close. After it's killed by Gyuhwan, 07 is the first to attack the boy in vengence for its partner. Later, 07 reminisces on a photo with the variant and promises to avenge it.

Gyuhwan Han[]

The first two interact when Gyuhwan interrupts their massacre and 07 tries to kill Gyuhwan, but is shot in the arm by him. After Gyuhwan kills 04, 07 promises to avenge it's partner's death and kill Gyuhwan. Although it is determined to kill the boy, it seems to have somewhat of a respect for him, wanting to eat his brains and take his appearance.
