Plot And Storyline[]
The character of Seo Yi Kyung has no involvement or appearance in the webcomic, and thus everything here is from the Netflix Adaptation.
We first see her when she asks Hyuk Lee if he has cellphone reception, after he denies, he asks her if she knows what’s going on, Seo Yi Kyung brushes him off, but after he presses on, she says she doesn’t know, but it’s most likely a disaster. ,Seo is is then seen yelling at Mr Seok to stop touching buttons randomly. After berating him, Seo calls the disaster emergency line, referring to herself as firefighter “Seo Yi Kyung.”
However, this attempt is ultimately in vain. Seo Yi Kyung doesn’t appear whilst Hyuk Lee is attempting to push the Long Tongue Monster out, but is presumably watching idly. After the fire extinguisher runs out, Seo Yi Kyung tackles the monster through the door, getting a shard stuck in her leg. As she tries to run away, the monster whips her with its long tongue, as she collapses onto the ground. Hyuk keeps the shutters open long enough to grab Seo Yi Kyung, and pulls her into the main building, as the long tongue sticks through the shutters, attempting to attack them. Seo Yi Kyung is next seen inspecting the body of a dead man who was killed by the long tongue monster with Su-Ung. Seo Yi suggests to take a photo of the body, and send it to the mans family, arguing that this was the only connection they could have, and they deserve to know. Su-Ung protests, but eventually agrees.
As Seo goes to take the photo, she discovers he has a wife and two kids, and seems distressed. Later, Seo Yi attempts to convince a distressed mother, who was the director of the daycare with Sung-Un and Hyuk Lee, to let them base there. The mother initially refuses, but snaps out, but does allow their situation.
We next see Hyuk Lee questioning Seo on her occupation. She says she’s a firefighter, and thus, Hyuk instructs for her to head down to the basement, and activate the power. However, this set her up to be attacked by the Spider monster. While heading down to the basement, a women alerts for Seo to not go down there, stating her dogs reaction as reasoning. Seo ensures she’d be careful down there. After which, she is attacked by the spider, grabbed and locked into a cocoon. She manages to escape, and climbs through the vents to escape, and is subsequently chased by the creature.
She is eventually caught again through a line of webbing, slowly being strangled by it. Breaking a nearby window, she takes a shard and severs the line of web, running out and escaping.
