One (원, Won), written as 01, is the main non-human antagonist of Shotgun Boy. He is the de facto leader of the variants experimented on by the MM Corporation. 01 is the reason of the Monsterization outbreaking and Hyun's family death, making him the overarching antagonist of Sweet Home.

Appearance
His true appearance is a gigantic amorphous purple blob of flesh, implied to have once been small enough to fit in a container. In this form, he has one red bloodshot eye and numerous tentacles sticking out. [7]
Forms
- His main form: a man with long black messy hair with pale skin, blood red eyes with dark circles under his eyes and an expressionless face. In the past, he wore a tuxedo with the appearance.
- A short-haired male employee: wearing their black uniform and hat. After being shot by Gyuhwan, his black shirt is torn in half. This is the form we see him in until Shinyeong calls him out. [11]
- Zero:, A young-looking boy with long blonde hair and other features; he doesn't use it for a long time. [7]
- A man with glasses: used before he is approached by his first victim of monsterization. [12]
- A beautiful woman: it features akin to a female version of himself. [12]
Personality
01 is a cold-hearted, calculative, brooding and secretive individual. His cold demeanor allows him to stay completely calm and in control in most situations, and he is not easily surprised or caught off-guard. He shows a sense of comradery to his partners (most of whom willingly obey him), wanting to protect them and obey their wishes, although it is pretty clear later that he only views them as pawns, seeing as he keeps secrets from them and eats Samshik simply for power.
01 holds the belief that around 70% of humanity must be culled. He does not want to kill them all due to his love of human technology, art and culture. He seems very serious about this mission, unlike his partners who just want to kill people. He also likes to keep the identity of the monsters a secret from everybody else.

On the inside, 01 is a very narcissistic megalomaniac. His inflated ego and delusional self worth make him believe he is above everybody, even a supposed god. He is also ruthless towards his own species, as he has even devoured even more of them than humans to increase his power, which he kept secret from his comrades. He likely only shows interest in individuals who share his narcissistic attitude and/or are useful to him, like Seongbin. He mocks anyone for thinking otherwise, not understanding why a powerful individual, like Zero, would want to protect "such stupid humans," saying it would be better to be friends with "someone like him." Additionally, he freely brags about his own abilities despite using underhanded tactics to his advantage, and 01 mocks him during their fight. When Zero's comrades (Gyuhwan and Shinyeong) arrive as backup (equipped with the variant-killing venom), however, 01 loses his composure and noticeably looks scared. He angrily curses Gyuhwan when he hits him with the Shotgun. After this loss, he sacrifices his original goals to increase his power and take down the boy.
Despite his narcissistic and sadistic nature, however, One has a sense of honor, offering to spare others to prove a point, and he's not above apologizing when he is mistaken.
After absorbing Zero's powers, One sees the world for what it is and becomes nigh-omniscient. He becomes much more mature, even believing it is right to spare Gyuhwan and his crew.
Background
01's life before.
Throughout some unknown period, 01 increased his power by consuming other variants and humans. In his past, 01 lived as a normal man on the track to earning the VIP life. 01 was heavily implied to be wealthy, as he was shown in a flashback to indulge in a number of expensive habits. He had (and still has) a love for human culture and goods.
Like his partners, 01 was captured and experimented on by the MM Corporation in Area C. Before being designated to move to Area A, 01 and his partners escaped the containment and took over MM-C.
Plot
01, disguised as a camp employee, first appears to welcome the students to their retreat. He demands everyone to empty their bags for an inspection. He states that the class that came in last week will show them what to do, and then demands everyone to yell as loud as they can while doing exercises. Later, he makes the students do multiple sets of jumping jacks but restarts when Gyuhwan slips up.
Before the talent show, Three notifies 01 that two students from Class 1 are missing. 01 says to forget them and gives off a sinister grin, saying not to let it ruin the fun.
01 threatening Shinyeong.
During the talent show, he is present with the other MM-C Variants. When 05 announces and begins her genocide, he and his partners block off the students' escape. The monsters proceed to kill multiple staff and students. Having them surrounded, Shinyeong Kang interjects and demands that the monsters show their true form to which 01 accepts. 01 then proceeds to threaten Shinyeong, getting ready to kill her. However, he steps back when 05 chimes in and wants to kill her instead.
Just then, they are interrupted when Gyuhwan enters with a Shotgun. 01 demands a variant to kill him, but it is killed by Gyuhwan. 01 recognizes the gun he used. After realizing Gyuhwan is more of a threat then expected, 01 demands that they retreat. 04 then gives a smokescreen, giving them the chance to exit.
01 senses Zero.
01, 04 and 07 hide in an abandoned shack. After a quick exchange, 01 demands 04 to call 05. Unfortunately, he can't get a signal due to an outside interference. 01 decides to take a look and says he sensed somebody.
01 meets the dying Three.
They later run into Three, who lays dying. Three asks 01 to avenge him after eating his brain. 01 honors his wishes and eats his brain, getting his memories of what happened before dying. Upon doing this, he "remembers" Zero, the monster that killed him. 01 describes to the others that he is like a "god". Suddenly, a smoke beacon lights off in the distance. 01 sends 04 to stop it. He then asks 07 to kill the remaining survivors, but to spare a certain student because he is greatly interested on the Monsterization Tumor he has.
A couple of moments later, 01 shows concern that the MM is catching on to his plan, so he decides to hurry. Then, he confronts two police officers on the destroyed bridge to the retreat. They inform him that there has been a disturbance and 01 attempts to deny this. The officers say they have to investigate anyway just to be sure, so 01 quickly kills Corporal Cho by shooting a disk-shaped tentacle to his neck. He then jumps across the bridge on top of the police car. Officer Oh is frightened and asks what he is. 01 asks whether he means now or after sundown, and proceeds to kill her. 01 then pushes their car off of the bridge, with their bodies inside, asking what 04 is doing, as the fire isn't taken care of.
01 is later seen after he brutally chops Zero into many pieces, telling Gyuhwan Han, Shinyeong Kang, Jongpil Shin and Jayden that their fates lie with Zero, telling them to die. Zero regenerates and attempts to push One back with his telekinesis, but One has many tentacles in the ground, keeping him in place. He mocks Zero, then burrows underground and sends his tentacles shooting up from the ground attacking Gyuhwan's group, one of the tentacles slashing Jongpil as the group attempts to run.

01 reveals he has absorbed more of his own species.
Gyuhwan and Shinyeong come to help Zero.
01 gets forced out of the ground by Zero and gets crushed, but breaks out seemingly uninjured. He asks how a god can be so foolish, and why he would befriend humans instead of someone like him. Zero says that 01 doesn't have a soul and destroys his left arm; however, it regrows instantly, shocking Zero. 01 explains that he has a secret the others don't know, he has absorbed more of his own species than of humans, which in return makes him powerful. Zero shoots off his other arm before he could finish explaining, but he continues explaining, saying that his regeneration isn't infinite, just like Zero's.
He then sends out two pillars each side of Zero, which send out three tentacles. Zero uses his telekinesis to block these, but 01 tries to stab Zero through the head, but Gyuhwan and Shinyeong come to his rescue, shooting both of the pillars. 01 curses Gyuhwan and shoots a projectile out of his hand, aiming for Gyuhwan, but Zero blocks it with his powers. Gyuhwan continues to rush 01 down until he gets close enough and shoots him directly in the chest.
01 about to absorb Seongbin's brain
01 manages to stab Gyuhwan before exploding. Then, he manages to survive burying his tentacles to the ground, appearing a hand of his from the ground. After that, he finds Samshik fighting Seongbin calling it by its real name (Three), she tries to explain One everything about what it was learning from Seongbin's tumor; however, he interrupts Samshik (or Three) and kills her in order to his own survival, surprising her and Seongbin; and then, he asks Seongbin why he is impressed that he killed another monster like him, no matter that he's human after all and it's common of them to trying devouring one another. 01 later tells him that he's impressed that his tumor progresses more rapidly than Gyuhwan's, no matter he has the shotgun that has proven to be quite bothersome, so he finishes telling Seongbin that he'll eat his brain instead.
Seongbin catches 01's tentacle
01 tries to kill and absorb Seongbin, but the bully catches the tentacle and easily cuts it with his hand, surprising 01. He asks how Seongbin feels and the latter replies saying that he thinks he could catch and kill anything, 01 tells him to give it a try. Seongbin begins to laugh and runs at 01, trying to attack, but 01 sends up tentacles from the ground and restrains Seongbin. He observes Seongbin and explains that his durability and physical ability has increased dramatically, but it's not enough to kill him. 01 tries to kill Seongbin once again, but he's stopped when he notices a red dot on the side of his head. A gun fires at him but he manages to dodge the bullet and leaps into the air, landing behind the MM soldier that attempted to kill him.
He gets shot several times by the MM soldier, who had switched to his pistol, but the bullets that the soldier used weren't applied with venom, so they had no effect. 01 kills the soldier mercilessly and grabs the MM soldier's sniper rifle with his tentacles, being surprised that the MM has merged the bullets with the venom. He then breaks the gun, and when he goes to check on Seongbin, he isn't there, and all of his tentacles had been destroyed. He calls Seongbin lucky.
After trying to find either Seongbin or Zero, he finds some MM soldiers talking about Zero and his powers, surprises them, and tells them before killing them on the act to take care of him; then, he gets in the MM-C from its emergency exit with the objective of finding Seongbin and/or Zero. When he gets in, his presence is advised by the MM-C system alerting Jongpil, Chayeong, Jayden, Suyeon and Seonyeob that a Variant is inside of the MM-C. Heading to the camera system in order to find any survivor, he finds the rest of Gyuhwan's group...
...
After One killed...
One resurects as a tentacle mass. He kills Zero, absorbs him, and transforms into him. Influenced by Zero's feelings - he saved Gyuhwan Han and his friends.
He proceeds to take revenge against MM, and learns of their secrets. He kick-started the Apocalypse, and the events of the Sweet Home. He also returns to his original form at the end of the story.

Abilities
Due to his history of devouring others Variants, 01 is the strongest known of his kind.
- Superhuman Physical Ability - Like his partners, 01 has endurance, strength, and speed beyond human capacity. He shows the power to easily jump over a river and easily leap over to a far away MM soldier.
- Tentacles - Like his partners, he shows the ability to control tentacles. He typically uses his forehead as a focus point. Additionally, he is able to shoot them out in a disc-like shape. He is also capable of burrowing underground and sending out multiple tentacles throughout the vicinity above. He can also have his tentacles form into objects, like shields.
- Blunt Tentacles - 01 has the ability to turn his tentacles blunt. He can use these tentacles to wrap around objects or creatures to keep in place. He uses these against Gyuhwan as to not damage him as 01 wanted to absorb him for more power.
- Morphing - Like his partners, he can steal other people's identities after eating their brain. He can morph into a camp employee. Additionally, 01 can manipulate his form - he can stretch his torso to unnatural proportions and can also create multiple heads. He can also change genders.
- Sensing Powers - 01 is able to sense other monsters.
- Enhanced Regeneration - As a result of cannibalizing other Variants 01's regenerative abilities are much greater, being able to regenerate any lost body part in seconds. He was able to regenerate his arm in matter of seconds with his fight with Zero, when it took 07 least an hour for his arm to grow back.
- Venom Resistance - 01 is able to split himself to survive being killed by venom. Also, he can break off parts hit by venom to avoid being damaged by it.
- Inhuman Assimilation - One has the ability to devour other non-human beings. While its implied that the other variants share this power, 01 is a very prolific user thereof. 01 has devoured countless fellow Variants for additional power. As a result his abilities far surpass those of his peers. 01 has also showcased the ability to devour Monsters, like Seongbin Yu, which boosts him even further.
- Zero's Abilities - It is safe to say that 01 has the same abilities as Zero (maybe even stronger) after absorbing him, as Zero was able to heal Gyuhwan, Shinyeong, Jongpil, Jayden and Chayeong, and he was also capable of starting a world-wide monster apocalypse. Additionally, he was able to see the souls of humans.
Relationships
03
Three was one of 01's companions, although it is less loyal towards him than some of the others. Three seems to dislike some of 01's plans, seeing as how it question with the talent show attack when two students are missing. It dislikes 01's view on not wanting to make their existence known to humans. It likes to separate itself from the group, finding them a hassle. 01 also doesn't seem to care when Three separates itself from them after the gym massacre, while it shows concern about 05. During Three's last moments, it asks the monster to avenge it, to which 01 obliges and eats its brains.
04
04 was a loyal companion to 01. 01 seemed to show concern at the thought of losing 04 during the Gym Massacre (though this is later implied to be fake.) 04 in turn is loyal and respects 01 and his powers. After the gym massacre they make it to an abandoned shack together, where 01 rudely demands it to call 05. Later, he ordered 04 to take out a nearby fire caused by some students, which it obeyed.
05
05 was one of 01's companions. When 01 is about to kill Shinyeong, 05 protests that she wants to kill her instead, which 01 obeys and throws her to the monster. After the massacre, 01 sends her to destroy all of the nearby phones. 01 later tries to call it, but can't.
07
07 was a loyal companion to 01, like 04. The trio (including 04) stuck together after the variant attack. In an abandoned shack, 01 asked how 07's arm was. Later, when students set off a fire, 01 sent 07 to kill survivors in the woods, which it obeyed with smile. It spends its last moments trying to warn 01 of the MM Corporation, showing its loyalty to him.
Samshik
Their relationship is unclear as they are rarely seen together, unlike the other variants who follow him. During their first on-screen encounter, Samshik excitedly explains Seongbin's tumor to one, but 01 cuts it off and eats its brain so it can regenerate itself, showing no remorse doing so.
Seongbin Yu
The two have a similar nature which 01 finds fascinating. They are both leader-like, cruel savages who will sacrifice other for their own benefit. 01 develops in interest in Seongbin after learning about him. He doesn't want anybody else to kill the boy, but him. When they first meet, he informs the boy that Gyuhwan has already awakened the same thing and he must take his brain now to defeat Gyuhwan, implying this wasn't his original plan. Unlike when interacting with other humans, he is able to casually talk to Seongbin while trying to kill him. He becomes curious and intrigued when Seongbin's is able to break his tentacles.
Zero
01 shows a strong hatred towards Zero. 01 first learns of its existence when eating Three's memories and vows to take it down. During their first encounter, 01 sneak attacks the figure and they proceed to fight. When they do, he frequently mocks him because he is unable to comprehend why it would team up with such "lowly" humans.
Gyuhwan Han
Due to Gyuhwan taking down many of the Variants, 01 is hostile towards him. When Zero and 01 are fighting, Gyuhwan arrives with the shotgun, which severely angers 01, who Gyuhwan later shoots down, thinking 01 died. 01, however is determined to get revenge on the boy. 01, like what he did with Seongbin, wants to kill and absorb Gyuhwan, as he is in the monsterization progress.
