Appearance[]
Myeong-Ja Lim was an adult of an unknown age. She had shoulder length brown hair, and typically dresses in a blouse with a jacket and some slacks. She wore glasses as well.
Personality[]
Myeong-Ja Lim was a very kind and caring woman. She was especially kind and protective of children, having lost an infant in a tragic accident—willing to put her life on the line to protect them. The trauma of losing her infant child had haunted her, and it is something her inner monster attempted to use to get her to turn. However, she refused to accept the fact that her child is lost and imagines her infant was still alive in the stroller. This belief was able to push the knowledge of reality out of her mind. After the Steroid Monster destroys the stroller, she lost it and was unable to hold back, accepting that her child had died years ago. While this did allow her inner monster to take control of the situation, Myeong-Ja was ultimately able to undermine the inner monster's malicious intent by having her desire turn her into a docile infant.
Plot[]
Some time before the apocalypse, Myeong-Ja Lim meets Jisu Yoon, who had recently moved in. She introduces her to her child, which confuses Jisu as nothing is in her stroller. Jayhun, another resident, later explains to Jisu about this behavior.
Myeong-Ja later appears as the Steroid Monster chases down some children. She attempts to politely talk it down, but is brutually batted aside. The Steroid Monster then destroys the stroller, infuriating Myeong-Ja and causes her to show signs of monsterfication. This catches the Steroid Monster off guard, allowing Hyun, Jisu, Jayhun, and the children to escape, but it is able to shake her off. Jisu tells Myeong-Ja that the children are safe, which snaps her back to normal. She stays in Duzik's apartment to help watch over the kids.
However, she ends up struggling to hold back her inner monster. Within a few days, the inner monster had eroded her will to the breaking point. In a conversation with the inner monster, Myeong-Ja admits she can no longer resist it, but taunts the inner monster knowing that her desire would make her monster form docile and unable to do anything. She turns into the Infant Monster as a result, greatly shocking the other survivors. While trapped in a fantasy world created by her infant monster, she laments that she wasn't able to help those in the real world further, but is glad to spend time with her child. In the real world, Hyun and the other survivors decide to let the Infant Monster live because it is harmless and out of respect and mercy for Myeong-Ja, as they are unwilling to separate her from the happy life she now lives with her kid.
Eventually, her satisfaction runs out and she turns into a coccoon. This is discovered by Hyun and the criminal Ihyun Jo, and later Jisu. Ihyun and Hyun argue over its right to life vs. the need to ensure the survivor's safety. Ihyun overpowers Hyun, but finds that his monster half is unwilling to harm the cocoon, and instead it attacks Ihyun itself. When Jisu arrives and debates the fate of the cocoon, Ihyun takes advantage of the distraction and is able to incinerate the cocoon, thus ending Myeong-Ja's life. However, monsters in a large radius around the apartment were able to sense the cocoon's destruction and angrily invaded the apartment.
Relationships[]
Unnamed husband[]
He was supposedly working overseas when he had heard that he lost his first child. From that point, it is assumed that he either left her from heartbreak or that he continued working overseas but had a strained relationship with his lover. He appeared with her in Myeong’s reality and was content.
Children[]
Meyong Ja-Lim loved her child Da-eun so much and felt guilt when she died. Since that tragedy, she then most likely broke and imagined scenarios where her child was still alive but subconsciously knowing that the child was dead because of Steroid Monster. Her child appeared in her dream-like reality, happy and well.
Monster Overview[]
The Infant Monster, as the name somewhat implies, takes the form of a gigantic developing fetus still in its amniotic sack. It is held upright by mounds of flesh tethering it to the wall and ceiling. The infant is positioned upside down, similar to how a fetus would be positioned just prior to birth in the mother's womb. Due to this, the infant is unable to move in any way and thus is harmless.
