Appearance[]
Hyein was a chubby woman who wore glasses, and kept her brown hair in a ponytail. She wore a hoodie and shorts accompanied with trainers. Usually she carried a weapon by her side to defend her from the monsters.
Personality[]
While Hyein will deny this, she was a coward. She remained mistrustful of the infected survivors, and had even tried to kill them behind everyone's back. She wasn’t willing to do the dirty work herself if she had someone else around her, meaning she was reliant on those she was with. She would only openly try to fight if left alone or if other people displayed more cowardice than her, but would immediately show her cowardice when around other people. Interestingly enough, she did appear to respect Yuri Park's medical oath to not bring harm to other people and offered to kill Gapsu in her place. She did not handle stress very well either, and caused unnecessary harm to advance the situation or cover her mistakes.
Plot[]
After Seon Anh's attempted murder of Seok Kim, Hyein annoyedly confronts her about it. Hyein revealed that she instigated and encouraged this attempt, and promises to kill Seon Anh when she monsterfies. When Mr. Kim attacks everyone in the lobby, she runs and hides. She notices Jay Ryu is armed and tries to get him to go help. Jay Ryu protests, and the argument escalates to the point where Hyein bludgeons Jay unconscious with a dumbbell. She regrets what has happened. The stress of recent events causes her to attempt to incinerate Seok Kim later on. Seok prevents her from throwing the Molotov, and they argue over Hyein's cowardice. Others check the commotion, which leads Hyein to reveal Seon Anh is turning into a monster, thus proving her cowardice.
Later, when a criminal gang takes over the apartment, Hyein listens to Hyunshik Lim's story. She reveals that they have infected survivors and is still mistrustful of them. Eventually, monsters begin to overrun the first floor. Hyein runs away with Yuri Park, though the two split up over a disagreement on where it is safe. Hyein continues running up the building. She pauses at the 11th floor, terrified at the bloody mess, and further terrified when her phone battery starts dying. She hears Gapsu Seo approach and is forced to fight as Gapsu begins monsterfying. Gapsu then snaps back to his senses once she hits him. Hyein continues to try and kill Gapsu, however, this time with her noting his crimes. Despite supposedly breaking his neck, Gapsu is still alive and is able to overpower Hyein. Hyein is saved by Yuri. However, the two survivors and the criminals are interrupted by a Mysterious Woman Hyein believes the woman is a monster, and uses Yuri's crossbow to kill it. Due to the extreme stress, Hyein goes insane and also tries to kill Yuri to make sure no one finds out what happened. However, Yuri manages to snap her out of it. Hyein continues to believe the woman she killed was a monster to put her mind at ease. She continues running towards the roof of the building.
After going to the roof, she with the other survivors try to survive the monster invasion. In a moment, she saves Yuri from a monster, hitting it to the head with a rock, saying that she wants to survive, and what the problem is with that. Later, when Hyuk assures the rope to a tree, he asks for someone to use the last pulley handle, and she says that she wants to use it for being weak. Before going to the safe zone, she asks Hyuk how he sacrifices himself for the rest and if she can be more brave, and he tells her that she is okay how she is.
Finally, when she tries to reach the zone, she gets attacked by the Bat Monster, and her last words before dying are: "I can't believe I die this way". Right before she died, she had thought about apologizing to Yuri and everyone about her past behaviour and attitude and that she’ll do better but these thoughts were never acted upon.

Hyuk[]
Even though it may not have appeared it, Hyein looked up to Hyuk as a leader and asked for directions when she thought she couldn’t handle things. Prior to her death, she asked Hyuk how she could be as strong like him, to which he responds with that she is fine the way she is. She seemed to have wanted to make amends with everyone, including him.
Yuri Park[]
Hyein enjoyed Yuri a lot more than the other survivors she was with. That being said though, she would still use her as a human shield when it came down to it and didn’t really see her to much as friend before prior to her death. When her sanity had dropped, she nearly murdered Yuri before being interrupted by the others when they reached their floor. She immediately apologised but also rebutted her ways, and tried to justify that she was scared and thought she was going to turn into a monster, something Yuri did not listen to. Upon going to the roof, Hyein originally planned to apologise to Yuri and the children for the way she acted to them, even wanting to start over and be friends. However, those thoughts were never acted upon as she died.
Seon Ahn[]
Hyein appeared to be the closest with Seon out of all of the survivors, though her relationship with her was far from perfect. Her views on monsters did not change even when Seon was beginning to become one. Seon seemed to act as Hyein’s conscious when she nearly killed Jay because he was becoming a monster. Seon and Hyein made A promise then that when the time came, Hyein would kill her so she could rest easy. She valued Seon a lot, letting her kill her husband without allowing anyone interfering and was distraught that she couldn’t kill her and keep her promise when Joon Shin ended up putting a bullet to her skull.
