Four (포우, Pou), written as 04, was one of the Variants experimented on by the MM Corporation. It was involved in the attack of the Yeongchan High retreat, and later Gyuhwan's group.

Appearance[]

Its true appearance was implied to be a small purple blob of flesh enough to fit in a container. He also had a passable human appearance at some point, allowing it to blend in to society.

At some point before being experimented on, 04 took the appearance of a burglar who broke into its house. In this form, he appeared as a tall, muscular man. It uses this form with the employee uniform in the current day.

After being shot, he reverted into the purple blob of flesh with one eye.

Personality[]

Before being experimented on, it was a firefighter willing to save lives, only killing one person who threatened it. Thanks to experimentation from the MM Corporation, however, it developed a hatred for humanity, seeing them all as evil. Even after killing a woman who sacrifices herself for a boy she hardly knew, it feels no guilt and still hates humans.

Despite its massive and imposing presence, 04 displays a calm personality, though, it is not above teasing its opponents before killing them. In battle, it has no sense of honour and will resort to use underhanded tactics in order to win with one example being to use a student as a human shield.

Background[]

Before being moved to the MM Corporation, 04 was stated to have been a devout and earnest firefighter. Eventually, it took the form of a burglar who invaded his house.

Variant experiments-2 — 04 and 07 being contained.

Like other Variants, 04 was experimented on by the MM Corporation in Area C, which led to his hatred of humanity. One day, alongside 07, they were forced to listen to Samshik's screaming as she was being experimented on. Before being designated to move to Area A, 04 and its partners escaped the containment and took over MM-C.

Plot[]

Four vs. PE — 04 killing the PE teacher.

During the talent show, it was present with the other variants. When 05 announced and begins her genocide, 04 and its partners blocked off the students' escape. It was struck on the head by the PE Teacher with a metal chair when the latter was persuaded by Director Lee. However, the blow seems to not be effective, causing 04 to brag about their superiority. It then crushed the teacher's head with its fist, killing him. 04 then attempted to eat Jayden's brain and assume his form, but it got interrupted by Shinyeong who decided to stall for time by questioning the identity of the monsters.

Just then, before Shinyeong got killed by 05, they were interrupted when Gyuhwan enters with a shotgun. After Gyuhwan killed a variant, 04 and 07 decided to attack the boy and take the shotgun. 07 attacked first, but its arm was shot in the process. 04 saved it by cutting its arm off before the "venom" spreads. 04 decided to pick up a student and used him as a human shield. Once 04 realized Gyuhwan was willing to shoot through him to kill it, it tried to throw Seonyeob at him, but he was saved by Jayden. 04 tried to attack again, but he stopped when Gyuhwan shot its hat off. 01 demanded to retreat, so 04 blew a smokescreen and used the opportunity to escape.

04, 01 and 07 hid in an abandoned shack. After a quick exchange with 01, he demanded 04 to call 05. Unfortunately, 04 could not get a signal due to an outside interference.

Four shotgunR — 04 stealing the shotgun.

They later ran into 03, who laid dying. 01 ate its brain in order to inform them of Zero. Suddenly, a smoke beacon lighted off in the distance, and 01 sent 04 to deal with it. 04 ran into Gyuhwan's group, who were in conflict when Director Lee stole the shotgun. Lee tried to shoot him, but 04 out speeded him, avoiding the 5 shots of the Director, and he finally killed him. The, he grabbed the shotgun from him with the only intention to break it. However, he got interrumpted by Shinyeong's arrow that hit on his left shoulder that would explode after being distracted by Jongpil's flute and Jayden cutting his right hand, the one that held the shotgun. After Jongpil and Jayden distracted him and making him lose the shotgun, and his left shoulder exploded because of the arrow, he blew some dust in order to blind everyone, and he spoted Jongpil speaking out loud; also, before he could kill Jongpil, Shinyeong tried to shoot him with another arrow again, failing that time, and Gyuhwan shot him on his right side hitting his entire right leg. He then cut off his leg and threw it at Gyuhwan, who blocked it with a bullet. 04 charges after Gyuhwan, but it hits Hyeyeon Ahn instead, who sacrificed herself for him. 04, realizing that and suffering from his wounds, ran away, and Gyuhwan swore revenge at him for killing her.

Seconds later, 04 was trying to heal his wounds, but it was hard; then, he saw Zero, and he demanded his identity. Knowing who Zero is (the one who wounded 03), he stabbed him and hit him to a tree, asking him what he is, but Zero touched his tentacle and told him that its kind has nothing, refering that he and his partners would die, and that happened to him when Gyuhwan found him and shot to his chest, making it explode. However, before his head melted, he stabbed Gyuhwan on his chest when he was trying to help/save Zero (believing that the kid was not Zero because of his wounds when he really was), having his last words before melting in addition: "Die... die, humans... die".

07 runs into a dying 04. 07 asks what happened to it, so 04 replies that it met a god. 07 asks if he's the one who did this to him, but 04 informs him it was Gyuhwan. It says it finished off Gyuhwan (not realizing Gyuhwan was healed by Zero). 04 adds that when it made contact with the god, it told him "they don't have anything," and wonders what he meant. 07 asks where the god went. 04 asks it to see for itself, so 07 hesitantly absorbs its memories.

Abilities[]

Super Human Endurance - Like its partners, 04 has endurance, strength, and speed beyond human capacity. It was notably was unaffected by being hit with a metal chair. It is also able to avoid Director Lee's gunfire with ease, however it seems to struggle avoiding Gyuhwan shots.
Regeneration - Like its partners, 04 is able to regenerate any part of its body. It takes an hour to heal an arm.
Tentacles - Like its partners, 04 is able to manipulate multiple strong tentacles throughout its body. It seems to prefer thicker tentacles compared to the others.
Smokescreen - Like 03, 04 can blow dust at high speeds to create blinding screens.
Morphing - Like its partners, 04 can morph into disguise based on what persons memory he acquires.
Muscle Growth - 04 is able to expand its muscles to a super-human level, giving it super strength. This is it manipulating protein within its body, similarly to the Protein Monster.

While being experimented on by the MM Corporation, 04 and 07 bonded over their previous lives and thoughts on humanity. In the present, they are shown to be close comrades. During the Gym Massacre, 04 saves it from Gyuhwan's Shotgun by cutting its arm off. 07 seems to show genuine concern for 04 when unable to complete its mission. In its final moments, 04 asks 07 to eat it's memories and avenge it, which 07 hesitantly does.
