The Bat Monster is a monster that came from outside the Green Roof Apartments grounds.
Overview[]
The Bat Monster, as its name suggests, is a monster capable of flight using its bat-like wings. It is the only known flying monster It is grey skinned with noticeable jowls and sharp teeth as well as feet similar to that of a bird. It appears to be powerful as its abdominals are muscular. It prefers ambushing its prey from behind. Because it is the only known monster able to fly, people actively hunting monsters may have difficulty finding it before it attacks due to them only scanning the ground and not looking in the air.
Plot[]
The Bat Monster first attacks Hyun Cha and Jisu Yoon in response to sensing a Mysterious Cocoon getting incinerated. It breaks through the window and almost manages to abduct Jisu. However, Hyun manages to stun it using his electric spear, forcing it to let go of Jisu. After a quick recovery, it attempts to attack the two again, but they escape into the hall and stun it again. The monster later ambushes Gapsu Seo and chases him up to the 11th floor. The monster attempts to eat Gapsu, but after noticing Gapsu is infected, it reluctantly lets him go. The monster was then seen ambushing Ihyun. The monster held an extreme advantage, the open air giving it plenty of room to dodge attacks, and can wound Ihyun, forcing him to retreat.
Ihyun eventually figures out how to create a projectile weapon, which Ihyun uses to shred one of the monster's wings. The monster eventually recovers and kills Hyein Son while she was tethering across from the apartment to the hill. It nearly discovered the screaming survivors on the hill, but switched its attention back to the apartment when it heard someone shout. Ihyun is able to take advantage of its distractedness to grab it and smash it skull first into the concrete. It is unknown whether this killed the monster or if it just could not recover before the apartment finished evacuating, Ihyun believes he was unable to fully kill it.
